Celery Seed Salad Dressing is a little bit sweet, a little bit tart and has a mild celery taste. It is a quick and easy salad dressing to make.
I found this recipe in my Mom's recipe file. The recipe is written on an index card that is discolored from age. Mom wrote on it that the recipe was her mother's.
Mom liked celery a lot, and she used celery seed frequently. I don't recall Mom making this dressing, but I'm sure that she did because she liked celery so much.
Jeff isn't a fan of celery, so I thought he might not like it, but he did. He said it is a light and refreshing salad dressing. I agree with Jeff, it is light and refreshing.
One of my favorite salad dressings is the one that I make to go with Shrimp Taco Salad. That dressing has a bit of sharpness to it. The Celery Seed Salad Dressing is now one of my favorite salad dressings, too!
I hope that you enjoy the Celery Seed Salad Dressing!
Celery Seed Salad Dressing
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated onion
- 1/3 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup vegetable or olive oil
- 1 tablespoon celery seed
- Mix all ingredients then serve immediately. I put all of the ingredients in a mason jar, secure the lid then shake until the ingredients are well blended. The dressing may separate after a few minutes. If that happens, shake or stir until they are blended again.
